2024-02-23 unplanned downtime: power failure

There was a power disruption at 2024-02-22 19:59 EST lasting 12 seconds which did not disrupt Qube2 or network operations. This outage appears to have been caused by a traffic accident and pole strike. At 2024-02-23 00:10 a larger outage happened, presumably in the course of making repairs to whatever damage caused the earlier 12-second outage. This second outage lasted until 2024-02-23 04:29 and of course exhausted the local UPS batteries.

Looks like I really should get on having a new propane tank installed so we can run the standby generator...it's got an automatic transfer switch and everything!

2023-07-07 planned downtime: Qube 2 now on UPS power

Following the power blip on 2023-06-06, I finally ordered new batteries for some of the random old UPSes sitting around the shop. The Qube 2 is now fed from an old APC Back-UPS 300C (the C means it can signal its status over simple serial signalling). Replacement battery is a Power-Sonic PS-1290 F2, which is 2 A/hour larger than the stock APC part number, but significantly cheaper.

2023-06-26 unplanned downtime: power failure

Looks like we had a power blip at 00:09 Eastern that lasted less than a minute. I really ought to put new batteries in one of the spare UPSes and put the Qube 2 and other workstations on this desk on it! The rest of the network was not affected.

2023-06-14 planned downtime: fan replacement

System fan replaced with Sunon EE40201S2-1000U-999, 7.7 CFM, 0.17 inches WC static pressure, 6000 RPM, 21 dBA noise level. This fan is not absolutely silent, but seems quieter than the original before it started failing. Definitely moves more air than the original was before replacement.
